Mexican Cruise

In celebration of our first wedding anniversary, we decided to take a cruise to Mexican Riviera. The closest sailing to June 5 left Los Angeles on May 15, close enough for us. After a long flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles and a short bus ride to the shipping port in San Pedro, we stepped aboard Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas and finally started our vacation.

After a relaxing day at sea, We arrived at our first stop in Cabo San Lucas where we went sea kayaking and ate some good mexican food. Cabo is very rocky and desert-like, but a very picturesque city. We woke up the next morning in Mazatlan where we went ashore and saw a Mexican folklore show, went shopping and enjoyed the beach at a beautiful resort called Los Sábalos. Los Sábalos is named after a type of game fish that is native to Central and South America. Though the beach in Mazatlan is 30 km long, we managed to find the one stretch of sand with every peddler on it. On Thursday, we arrived in beautiful Puerto Vallarta, our favorite port of call. We spent the morning wandering the city sucking on mango slushies trying to take it all in. The city itself is very old and the architecture has a coastal European flair, framed by cobblestone streets and shadowed by a very tall and very Spanish cathedral. In the afternoon we managed to pose as guests at the Westin, enjoyed the pool and beach, had some drinks and ceviche, and stayed there until sunset.



The great thing about a cruise vacation is that not only do you visit exciting places, but you also get to stay on a really cool ship. While the Vision of the Seas wasn't quite as big as our previous cruise aboard the Mariner of the Seas, it was still just as beautiful. An added bonus to cruising on the Pacific are the spectacular sunsets over the ocean.
